MONTH 3, RECIPE 6: CHEESY CRACKERS
Snack-time is the BEST time! It is for that sole reason I crafted these awesome cheesy crackers. Normally I don’t keep many snacks in the cupboards (I have no restraint when it comes to any snack foods; they’re gone in seconds), but I couldn’t pass up the idea of making your own crackers! JUST THINK about the possibilities!
Not to get all penny-pinching-patty on you all again, but these are also so cheap to make! Most of you probably have all the ingredients already…

1 c. flour (plus more for rolling)
1/2 c. grated parmesan cheese (whatever hard cheese you have on hand is cool. Cheddar would be awesome!)
1/2 tsp salt (plus some for top)
1 tbs. sesame seeds
4 tbs. butter, chilled
1/4 c. milk (or cream, water, or soy milk. Anything to bind this together!)
Pepper to taste

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. In a bowl, stir together flour, cheese, salt, sesame seeds and butter, cutting the butter into the mixture until the pieces are small. Slowly stir in milk until the mixture forms a ball. If you need more milk, add at a tablespoon at a time (just make sure it doesn’t get tacky!). Roll out to 1/4″ on a flat surface. Use a knife (or any kind of fancy cutter) to cut into whatever shape you’d like! Place on a lined cookie sheet, sprinkle with salt, pepper and sesame seeds, then bake in the oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Note for making the coolest crackers: These taste fantastic! The crackers take about 20 minutes to craft so they’re perfect for an impressive party dish or just a lazy sit-at-home night. You can easily put whatever you want on them and you can easily make them cruelty free: substitute margarine for butter, nutritional yeast for cheese and use soy milk! I’ll have you know: I’ve been downing them with the hummus I made the other day! WHAT A COMBO! Make both and send me pictures!
