The Mission

Alas! A food blog. Well, it’s more of a mission to convince myself that I’m patient and motivated person than anything. Where I got this sick idea is beyond me, but I’m going to (try to) do it. Why? Because I am a patient and motivated person; a patient and motivated person who loves to cook and bake and is interested in all the things a twenty-something shouldn’t be interested in.

My mission: 13 new recipes a month for 13 months.

Slightly crazy, I know. But if I fail, I didn’t call this “a Baker’s Doesn’t” for nothing, right? It’s only one new recipe every 2.3 days and in a land of ‘just-add-water’ cake mixes, frozen dinners and fast food restaurants, of course cooking from scratch sounds absurd. I’m here to tell everyone to get over it.

    Hello Ms. Desmarais!

I just came across your site (actually Sally mentioned it awhile back), and I’m excited to see all the yummy stuff you’re making. I also love to cook and try to make as much from scratch as I can, so I think I’m going to try your falafel recipe sometime soon and I’m going to try browning the butter when I make brussel sprouts in the future. The apple ginger snap cookies also look amazing! Let me know if you come across a good granola recipe- it’s a but expensive, so I’d like to make my own, but I don’t want something that just tastes like plain rolled oats… Anyway, hope you’re doing well. Love the site! Keep up the good cooking! :)

Sara T! Thank you for reading and I’m glad you’re enjoying… I’ve been brainstorming a cheap/delicious granola recipe so check back soon. Congratulations on your engagement! Hopefully I run into sometime soon. xoxooo.
